“Right foot again…Left foot again.” Everyone knows this popular song, The Cha Cha Slide by DJ Casper because it is played at countless dances, formals, and weddings. When participating in group dances I believe that this raises our endorphins, is good for the heart and soul, and provides for a bunch of laughter especially when you have two left feet!
According to a Prevention article, “Swedish researchers, writing in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, studied 112 teenage girls who were struggling with problems including neck and back pain, stress, anxiety, and depression. Half of the girls attended weekly dance classes, while the other half didn’t. The results? The girls who took the dance classes improved their mental health and reported a boost in mood—positive effects that lasted up to eight months after the classes ended.” This not only is beneficial for teens but adults as well. Just imagine reliving your youth and dancing without a care in the world in order to boost your happiness! Got an itch to scratch and want to begin dancing?
